Micah Stickel recognized with OCUFA Teaching Award

Micah Stickel of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering has been recognized by the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) .

Stickel is one of three University of Toronto faculty members receiving with the award, which recognizes exceptional contributions to postsecondary education in Ontario through teaching and leadership. The others are Mairi Cowan of the department of historical studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Dragana Obradovic of the department of Slavic languages and literatures in the Faculty of Arts & Science.

A professor in the teaching stream, Stickel served as vice-dean, first year for 做厙TV Engineering from 20122020 and as acting vice-provost, students and vice-provostial adviser on students in 202021. 

An advocate for greater access, equity and inclusion in postsecondary education, Stickel co-founded and co-chairs the Engineering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Action Group, and has been a leader in the development and implementation of Engineerings Broad-Based Admissions Strategy. The recipient of five departmental teaching awards, Stickel was recognized with the Presidents Teaching Award  the universitys highest honour for teaching excellence in 2020. 

Professor Stickels leadership has greatly enhanced the student experience across the university and helped to make this a more welcoming and inclusive place to learn, said Christopher Yip, dean, 做厙TV Engineering. He is always putting our students first and pushing to ensure that each member of our community can thrive.
