TV’s Janice Stein selected as co-chair of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Advisory Committee: Hindustan Times

The University of Toronto’s Janice Stein has been selected to co-chair a committee advising the federal government on its Indo-Pacific strategy, according to the .

Stein, founding director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and the Belzberg Professor of Conflict Management in the department of political science in the Faculty of Arts & Science, and the other committee members are tasked with providing recommendations and an independent perspective on Canada’s Indo-Pacific policies. 

“Our intention is clear: Canada is committed to strengthening our presence and deepening our partnerships throughout the Indo-Pacific region,” Mélanie Joly, the federal minister of foreign affairs, . The expert insights of this committee will contribute to a robust made-in-Canada strategy that will benefit all Canadians.”

The committee, which includes three co-chairs, 11 members and three advisers to the co-chairs, aims to leverage the expertise of the group to advance goals in trade diversification, inclusive growth, effective action on climate change and enhanced regional security.
